Google, New, Social, Network, How, Different, Help, Site
In case you haven't noticed, there's a new kid on the social networking block…well, sort of. While Google Buzz and Google Wave failed to make any buzz or waves, so far Google+ has received rave reviews.
Many are already comparing Google+ to Facebook, which makes sense seeing as though Facebook has been the longtime front runner in social networking. However, those who have had a chance to explore Google+ have found the features to be a cut above Facebook. Here are some of those features:
In Google’s Hangout feature, users can chat via video
Google’s search engine within a social networking site. No other social networking site has this capability.
Similar to Facebook’s Groups, but better. Allows you to organize contacts based on categories you create. (Ex: family, extended family, close friends, book club pals, church friends, work buddies, high school chums, basket weaving friends….you get the point) Basically, this feature will eliminate those embarrassing moments when your mother sees pictures of a night out you may not remember.
SEO experts agree that Google+ will change how regular Google ranks pages, as it will now have a base of actual human beings helping to boost certain sites over others. In order to compete and keep up with competitors, you and/or your clients would do well to get a social presence on Google+. But there are a few caveats: With features like hangouts, sparks and circles, it seems users are being put into specific interest silos. And because there don't appear to be any businesss profiles available on Google + at the moment, you're gonna need a social media professional in order to penetrate these silos.
